The Cerebro Boss/Admin feature is an expansion of the delegate (proxy) feature already included in Skype for Business/Lync (for the sake of simplicity hereinafter referred to as ‘SfB’). In German-speaking countries, this feature is also known as ‘Chef/Sek’. Cerebro Boss/Admin helps eliminate or simplify multiple communication steps for people who regularly work together closely, such as executives and assistants or among sales teams, for example.

- If the user’s status is set to ‘available’, but wants all calls forwarded to the delegate, this can be done with a certain dial code, for example 61.
- The user can choose to forward calls to any or all designated proxies by ticking the ‘Receive calls’ box. The user can also choose to forward ‘Only external calls’ or ‘Only internal calls’.
- If the ‘BusyOnBusy’ feature is enabled for a delegate, his or her line will only ring if the line is not already busy.
- The delegate can also set this up for the user on their device or SFB client.
- USP: this can also be done over any SfB hardphone or mobile via ‘mobile SfB’.
- The delegate can tell by the symbol ⧉ in their SfB client (⊟ in Lync 2010) whether the user has enabled call forwarding.
- USP: Because the symbol is displayed in the SFB client, it can also recognize the delegate on ‘SfB mobile’ or a user via federation (provided that the ‘personal relationships’ settings in the SfB client allow it).
If the user has set their status to ‘Do Not Disturb’, all calls will be forwarded to their delegate(s). By default, this setting is not enabled.
Call forwarding when the user is ‘offline’ or is on another call (for which the ‘BusyOnBusy’ must be activated for this user)
Callers that are “whitelisted” in the user’s SFB client user will not be forwarded to proxies, but will instead ring on the user’s line or follow the personal SfB or Cerebro call forwarding settings.
Permissions are mapped via the delegate settings in the SfB client:
a) Each delegate may set up call forwarding for particular users. The delegate does not need to be active themselves (the ‘receive calls’ box does not need to be ticked); all that is needed is for the delegate to be assigned to that user
b) A call from a delegate ALWAYS circumvents a user’s call forwarding settings.
c) If BusyOnBusy is activated, the delegate can still circumvent the user’s busy tone. This feature can be disabled.
Circumventing settings: a delegate can ALWAYS circumvent a user’s Boss/Admin forwarding settings.
The delegate can pick up a call on the user’s line by dialing *5 if, for example, the user is away from their desk and has forgotten to forward their calls.
A delegate can handle calls for multiple executives (users).
USP: If the delegate has activated call forwarding to another extension, any calls forwarded from the user to the delegate will be forwarded to this extension. This is particularly advantageous when a delegate is handling calls forwarded from several users, allowing the delegate not to have to change each user’s call forwarding settings individually. Since this extension does not have to be previously assigned as a delegate’s extension, ad hoc delegation is also possible.
